Travis Hong, Undergraduate Student
August 2026 -
Travis is a 3rd year Health Sciences student at Queen’s University. Before joining the lab, he worked in cardio-oncology research at the University Health Network, where he helped build machine learning models to predict cardiotoxicity from baseline echocardiograms. His thesis research in the lab focuses on learning residue level representations from mutation patterns and 3D contact structure to distinguish cancer driver mutations from passenger mutations in histone and chromatin proteins. Through this work, he aims to better understand how mutations in chromatin disrupt its structure and function in cancer.
In his spare time, Travis enjoys running and traveling.
